Let’s first talk about Bitcoin. Ah yes, it’s the grandfather of them all. Bitcoin is that friend who began investing in Apple stocks in 97. Everyone wants to be like him. Don’t fret if you missed out on the boat. There will be plenty more fish to catch.
Ethereum is another player. It’s like Bitcoin’s cool younger brother who’s more into smart contracts, decentralized applications (dApps), and is also into smart contract technology. Ethereum isn’t a currency. It’s an ecosystem. This is where developers are encouraged to be creative, and can create new applications. These could transform everything from banking or gaming.
But be careful! But before you start throwing your hard earned cash into these digital coin, remember that not everything glitters. The crypto-market can be as unpredictable and volatile as a caffeine-addled cat. Prices can go from skyrocketing to plummeting in a matter of hours. Before making a move, it’s important to do your research.
Research is a great way to do your homework. Imagine yourself in high school again, but this time instead of cramming up for exams you’re reading through whitepapers or Reddit threads. You should familiarize yourself with terms like mining, wallets, exchanges and blockchain. It’s worth it. You won’t regret not being able to decipher the jargon.
Wallets are next – but not the leather wallets you may have in your pocket. The two main types of cryptocurrency wallets are hot and cold. Hot wallets have the same convenience as a checking-account, but are more vulnerable to hacking. What about cold wallets. They are like burying money in your backyard, but without having to dig.
You can buy cryptocurrency on exchanges. I mean gateway platform! Binance has more advanced features that are appealing to seasoned traders.
Let’s talk about security. Nobody wants their money stolen by cyber-pirates! Do not use ‘password123,’ but instead create strong passwords. Enable two-factor verification (2FA) and think about hardware wallets to protect yourself from hackers.
But don’t just put everything in one basket. Diversification, though it may sound fancy in finance, is actually common sense wrapped nicely up with financial wisdom. Diversify investments to ensure that even if one asset goes down, the others will still do well!
